General FAQ
Q: I have hundreds of programs installed, but Recover Keys found only 10 product keys, why?
A: First of all how many of these hundreds programs actually have products key? How many of them are free? Secondly, there are billions of programs in the world and it would be impossible to support every program, since each program is storing its product key in unique way and place. Currently Recover Keys supports more than 11,000+ popular programs and it got a biggest list in compare with our competitors which don't even support half of our list.
Finally you need to understand that Recover Keys doesn't do any magic. If product key is there program will recover it, don't expect Recover Keys to recover your product keys from trial versions - this is not a keygen.
Q: Why it just can't scan my C: D: E: drives?
A: 99% of the product keys are located in Windows Registry, not in files. However some programs does store their products keys somewhere on the hard-drive and Recover Keys will also scan them.
Q: Can I recover serial from Windows CD?
A: Nope, there are no serials there. When you enter your key while installing, it's checked against an algorithm to verify that the key is valid.
Q: It shows me BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB-BBBBB key for my Windows instead of real product key.
A: For Vista, Windows 7, 8, 10, Windows Server 2008 operating systems this key may be shown instead of real key if it is MAK (Multiple Activation Keys) or VLK (Volume License Keys). These keys cannot be recovered since they are not stored in the system at all.
Q: Why doesn't the Windows product key returned match the one on my sticker?
A: If you purchased your PC with Windows already installed from a large manufacturer such as Dell, HP or Toshiba, it's likely that Windows was installed using an OEM key instead of the actual key for your PC. This saves them (and you) money because it's much more efficient for these large companies to install Windows once and then clone the drive.
Q: Can I change my product keys with Recover Keys?
A: Yes, but with the exception of Microsoft and Adobe products - these keys can be recovered only. You can change Windows product key, but only locally and on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7, Server 2003 and Server 2008. To change product key simply select row you want to change and press Ctrl+F2 or right-mouse-click and select "Change license key"
Q: The activation key which I received with my receipt after purchased Recover Keys is not a 25 characters key and I can't register my Windows/Office, etc. with that license key.
A: We don't sell license keys for Windows or another applications. By ordering Recover Keys you're receiving 20 characters activation key. This key code is valid only for Recover Keys activation. When Recover Keys is registered, you get a full program version and can run it on computer(s) from which you would like to retrieve license keys of installed and registered/activated programs.
